Intimate Relationships
An intimate relationship is more than just sex. It is a vulnerable connection with another person or people. Many times, people will come to therapy because they realize there is a disconnect in their relationship. Regardless of the reason why, strife in a relationship can affect multiple other parts of an person's life.
Some common reasons why a relationship is heading towards a breakup:
* Communication. This is probably the number one reason people say that their relationship is heading towards a break-up. Countless times I have been told by individuals that they feel they just don't know how to communicate with their partner.
* Reduced intimacy. Whether it is sexual intimacy or one of the multiple other types of intimacy, a reduction in intimacy can lead to a lot of resentment, anger, sadness, and a whole host of other negative emotions.
* Broken trust. Cheating is much more than a sexual affair. Cheating can be any action that breaks down trust in a relationship. It could be sexual, financial, spiritual, or even emotional. Once trust is broken, it is very difficult to repair.
The good news?
None of the reasons above automatically mean that a relationship is or 'should' be over. Relationship counseling can help with any of the above situations. Please contact me to see how I may be able to help salvage your relationship. It does not matter if you are in either a 'traditional' relationship, or any version of a 'non-traditional' relationship. I may be able to help.
